The Unfortunate A-ROD Steroids Scandal

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Sports Illustrated’s recent story that Alex Rodriquez tested positive for steroids in 2003, and his subsequent admission of steroid use,  is rocking the baseball world.

There are a lot of Red Sox fans that are taking much glee in this story.  I’m not one of them.  While I don’t care much for A-Rod as a person, his baseball acumen is to be admired.  Now we find out that he had some help.  I have to say that I was rooting for him to break Barry Bonds’ home run record, so that the record would not be tainted by steroids.   So much for that.

Another thing that has disappointed me is the reaction of baseball fans on the internet forums I visit.  The general consensus seems to be that if a player is good, he probably used steroids.  That’s a sorry state of affairs.  I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.  It seems that most others dont.  That’s too bad.

Pitchers and Catchers report next week.  I can’t wait.
