The cable news stations, blogs, and newspapers have been reporting recently on the plans to build a Mosque 5 blocks from the site where the Twin Towers once stood before being destroyed by Militant Islamic Terrorists, commonly referred to in the USA as “Ground Zero”.

The  backlash from these plans has been quite substantial.  “Patriotic” Americans have come out in droves to protest the Mosque plans.  Note that in most cases, these are the same Americans that are whining about constitutional protections and their opinion that President Obama is taking away their liberties.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not pro-Muslim.  Actually,  I’d be very happy if no more churches,  mosques, synagogues, or other places of “worship” were ever built.  I believe religion is a detriment to society.  BUT… I also believe in the Constitution.  All religions are granted equal protection under the constitution.   There can be no debating that.

But many Christian Americans feel that Islam should be banned from this country because the 9/11 terrorists practiced a radical version of Islam.  It doesn’t matter to them that there are many more peace-loving Muslims in this country than there are radicals.  It doesn’t matter that one of the reasons for the proposed Mosque is to show people that mainstream Muslims do not support the actions or message of the Terrorists.

These folks whine and cry about religious freedoms for themselves, while actively campaigning for the removal of these freedoms from other law-abiding Americans.   They are hypocrites one and all, and are going against all the teachings of Jesus Christ.  In my mind, they are neither good christians nor good Americans.
