Running Away from Responsibility
Thursday, March 10th, 2011
When people run for political office, we all expect them to do their job. After all, they swear an oath saying they will.
People who run away from a fight are cowards. Legislators who run away from their responsibility are worthless. Those that don’t honor their oaths are liars. Those that participate in the obstruction of the legislative process are criminals.
That’s the case in Wisconsin today. Some Cowardly Democratic Senators there have run away, because they know they will be on the losing end of a vote to end collective bargaining for union workers in the public sector.
This is not about unions, workers rights, or teachers. This is about responsibility. Running away only postpones the inevitable, and ends up costing taxpayers more money that the state doesn’t have.
Whether you stand with the union workers or not, it is imperative that we all realize that if this kind of reaction to pending legislation becomes common, our government will come to a standstill. That’s not in anyone’s best interest.
