Rev. Sharpton, Your Time Is Over
Wednesday, February 18th, 2009
Al Sharpton’s reaction to a recent cartoon published in the New York Post has bolstered my belief that “Civil Rights Leaders” really don’t want a racially neutral society. They know that as soon as that goal is reached, they are out of a job, and also out of the spotlight.

Apparently Rev. Sharpton is of the opinion that because some bigots have equated Blacks with monkeys, it is to be assumed that anytime a picture of a monkey is used in parody, that the author is a bigot (if he is white). It’s my belief that only a bigot would think that way.
Take a look at the cartoon. Do you see this as a statement that President Obama should be shot because of the stimulus plan recently passed? That’s what “outraged” civil rights leaders and ultra-liberal journalists and bloggers are saying. Seems like a stretch to me.
It’s time for us to put this racial bickering behind us. But before that can happen, the Black community needs to change their assumptions about the White community. Doesn’t the fact that we elected a Black President mean anything to them?
I can’t wait for the time when we don’t make such a point of race. Let’s concentrate on our similarities instead of our differences. And Rev. Sharpton, it’s time to retire!
