Anyone who knows me knows that I’ve always been a big John McCain fan. In fact, he’s the only politician that I’ve ever given money to.

McCain has always impressed me because of his willingness to reach across the aisle, to the ire of many of his Republican colleagues. His close relationship with Joe Lieberman, another of my favorite politicians, reinforced my support of Senator McCain. His patriotism cannot be questioned, and his disdain for pork-barrel projects showed me that he was not a typical politician (or so I thought).

Now he’s the Republican Nominee for President. All of a sudden, he’s using all the same underhanded tactics that I thought were below him. He’s taken to exaggerated attacks on Senator Obama. He’s distorting the truth on occasions, and on others he’s telling bald-face lies. His campaign has sunken to the low of starting false rumors about things Obama’s wife apparently said, but somehow nobody else ever heard.

Needless to say, this disappoints me terribly. The one person I thought was above all this crap is in fact knee-deep in it himself.

At least I found out the truth in time. I’ll be voting for Obama.
