Just Say NO to Scott Boras

Friday, December 19th, 2008

It’s time that MLB teams took a good long look at the way baseball is heading.  The salaries for mediocre players are astounding.  And when you look at the premier players, the numbers are off the board.  The time has come to put an end to the Scott Boras era and just say no to the high salaries.

The Yankees have proven that you can’t buy a championship.  It takes more than a bunch of players with big egos and even bigger paychecks to make a team.  The Red Sox are close behind. Was Daisuke Matsuzaka worth the money they paid for him?  So far, I’d say no.

If the MLB doesn’t institute a salary cap soon, fans won’t be able to afford a ticket to the game.  The heck with the Players’ Union.  Donald Fehr is almost as much to blame as Scott Boras for the unthinkable salaries that are being doled out today.

The team owners are also part of the problem.  The Yankees, Mets, Red Sox, Angels, etc. should be grooming talent from within instead of buying hired guns.

I’m disgusted.  Something needs to be done soon to save the game.  Maybe a situation like the NHL experienced a few years back.  Yes, it will hurt to have  summer with no baseball.  But in the end, it would be better for the game.
